NWS Memphis (Western Tennessee, Eastern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi)

.The remnants of tropical system Beta will continue to affect portions of northeast Mississippi through this afternoon. Storm total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches, with localized higher amounts, is forecast through this afternoon. This will create a potentail for flooding of smaller rivers and streams, as well as urban and low-lying areas. . ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... The Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of North Mississippi, including the following areas, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee MS, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss and Tishomingo.

* Through this afternoon

* Event total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches, with localized higher amounts are possible.

* Smaller rivers and streams may flood, as well as urban and low-lying areas where drainage is poor.

Do not drive into areas where water covers the road.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... The Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of Middle Tennessee, including the following areas, Bedford, Coffee, Giles, Grundy, Lawrence, Marshall, Van Buren, Warren and Wayne.

* Through this evening

* Remnants of Beta will continue to move northeast and across the watch area by this evening.

* Additional rainfall totals of up to 2 inches can be expected.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Areas Affected: Colbert; Cullman; Franklin; Jackson; Lauderdale; Lawrence; Limestone; Madison; Marshall; Morgan

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Alabama and southern middle Tennessee, including the following areas, in Alabama, Colbert, Cullman, Franklin AL, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan. In southern middle Tennessee, Franklin TN, Lincoln and Moore.

* Through this evening

* Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Beta will impact the Tennessee Valley today. Efficient tropical rainfall rates will likely overpower absorption rates into the ground, leading to flash flooding across the area.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

* At 1205 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Over 2 inches has fallen over the last 24 hours. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Amory, Aberdeen, Fulton, Mantachie, Smithville, Tremont, New Salem, Evergreen, New Wren, Fairview, Prairie, Sandy Springs, Clay, Nettleton, Hatley, Gattman, Cardsville, Parham, Jacinto and Turon.
