* Up to 1.50 inches of rain is expected across the Flash Flood Watch area.

* Street flooding will be a hazard for travelers. Low-lying and poor drainage areas will be at risk for flash flooding, as well as small streams.

* A portion of northwest Alabama, including the following areas, Colbert, Franklin AL, Lauderdale, and Lawrence.

* Through Friday afternoon

* Multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected through Saturday. Additional rain totals of up to 4 inches are expected through Saturday night, with locally higher amounts possible. Surface soil conditions are saturated and much of this rainfall will occur as runoff. Many of the local rivers and streams are expected to go into flood as a result.

* Residents should make preparations now if they live in a flood prone area. This Flood Watch may need to be extended into the weekend.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Alabama based on forecasts from the Tennessee Valley Authority... Tennessee River AT Florence affecting Colbert and Lauderdale Counties The Flood Warning continues for The Tennessee River AT Florence.

* Until further notice.

* At 2 AM Wednesday the stage was 18.4 feet.

* Flood Stage is 18.0 feet.

* Minor Flooding is occurring and Minor Flooding is forecast by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

* Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 2 AM Wednesday was 18.4 feet.

* Forecast from the Tennessee Valley Authority...The river will continue rising to near 21.1 feet by early Monday morning. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.

* Impact...At 21.5 feet...Water covers the parking lot of the Marina at McFarland Park...with extensive flooding occurring at the soccer fields and golf course within the park. Water is also beginning to cover the road that goes underneath U.S. Highways 43 and 72 at the new playground.

Safety message... Do not attempt to drive through a flooded road. The depth of water is not always obvious. As little as two feet of water will carry most cars away. Also, the road bed may be washed out under the water, and you could be stranded or trapped. * At 758 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Columbia, Lewisburg, Lawrenceburg, Pulaski, Spring Hill, Mount Pleasant, Loretto, Summertown, Chapel Hill, Ardmore, Cornersville, St. Joseph, Elkton, Minor Hill, Ethridge, Lynnville, Henryville, Culleoka, Belfast and Goodspring. This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 1 and 52.

* At 730 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Up to two inches of rainfall will be possible in one hour. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Impact...At 16.0 feet...Flood waters affect mostly bottomland along the river...including low lying farm and pasturelands.

* At 5 AM Wednesday the stage was 18.2 feet and rising.

* Flood Stage is 17.0 feet.

* Minor Flooding is occurring and Moderate Flooding is forecast.

* Recent activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 5 AM Wednesday was 18.4 feet.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.5 feet by early this evening. The river will fall below Flood Stage early tomorrow afternoon.

* Impact...At 20.0 feet...Backwater on a nearby tributary added to floodwaters from the Flint River both reach a small bridge on Brownsboro Road.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville Alabama has extended the

* Flood Warning for... Indian Creek in Southwestern Madison County in north central Alabama...

* Until 1130 AM CST.

* At 704 AM CST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that up to 2 inches of rain have recently fallen across much of the Indian Creek basin. This precipitation was largely converted into runoff, and although water levels continue to drop, gauges indicate that the creek is still in flood.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Northwestern Huntsville, Madison, Redstone Arsenal, Triana, Marshall Space Flight Center and Harvest.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
