no measles cases confirmed in alabama. chief meteorologist kate mckenna here with a look at the forecast. in the short-term, we've got two big headlines in the weather realm. for the tennessee valley, it's going to be the heat. yes, there's an isolated storm chance as well for both tuesday and wednesday, but the the most concerning aspect of the forecast is the dangerous heat that persists across the region. temperatures reach the mid 90s the next couple of afternoon and with humidity, it's going to feel more like triple digits. otherwise, expect a mostly sunny sky and an isolated storm chance. headline number two is the area of low pressure that's currently making its way toward the gulf coast. once the low enters the warm waters of the gulf, there's a high likelihood of tropical development. in fact, the national hurricane center gives it an 80% chance of tropical development in the next 5 days. if it gains enough strength to become a tropical storm, it would be named barry. regardless of wind strength, all coastal locations from about alabama to texas will experience heavy rain as it tracks slowly westward. the tropical influence for the tennessee valley is to be determined, but we will be watching closely. thanks, kate. we'll check back in with you later in the show.
