City of Decatur officials, Alabama Labor Secretary discuss current coronavirus response

Officials in the city of Decatur spoke Friday morning about their response to the coronavirus pandemic.

UPDATE: Alabama Labor Secretary Fitzgerald Washington said the state’s labor department has a new tracking tool to allow those who file unemployment claims to track their progress through the system.

Judy Smith, the public health administrator for the northern district, said officials expect the state to peak in cases early next week. She said keep wearing masks, keep social distancing and follow guidelines.

Danielle Gibson with Decatur Morgan County Tourism said they’re launching a website where people can find music, virtual tours, history, local businesses, new skills, etc.

Mayor Tab Bowling encouraged everyone to spend stimulus money locally.
