Investigators at the Morgan County Sheriff's Office requested help from the FBI Task Force from Madison County and Huntsville agencies with this investigation because of how complex it is. Authorities shared the victims were found in different parts of the home and some of multiple gunshot wounds. The sheriff's office said the FBI task force has additional resources, technology and vast network that could help solve the case.
The sheriff's office hasn't said how the people inside the home knew each other or what the motive behind the killings could be. Investigators believe what happened here was an isolated incident. No suspect information has been released, but police don't think the public is at risk. The sheriff's office said it believes a suspect or suspects are not in the area.
Authorities say they don’t know of a crime before involving so many victims in Morgan County. They say the public’s safety is always the number one concern, and they don’t believe the suspect(s) are in the area. They say they don't know the relation between victims right now.
Authorities are working to find a suspect or suspects. They responded to the home around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Investigators said some of the victims were shot more than once.
