Visitation is Tuesday afternoon for the DeKalb County teenager who died in an ATV crash Sunday.
Brock Tuten, 17, died when his ATV ran off County Road 18 near Geraldine Sunday afternoon and crashed into a tree. Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash.
Tuten's mother, Dedra Tuten, told WAAY 31 he won a state championship in this year's Skills USA robotics competition.
"Brock was a unique person," she said in a statement. "He lived a short life but one that was full of one rambunctious adventure after the next. Brock was most well known for his biting but irrestible sense of humor. More than anything, he loved his family, playing baseball and guitar, and just driving around visiting and calling everyone. We don't know how we will live without him. We need as much love, prayers, phone calls, and visits as possible."
Tuten had just finished his junior year at Fyffe High School. For Andrew and Cheyenne Helms, who have known Tuten since pre-K, the news was hard to hear.
"I still feel like he's going to pull up at my yard and he's still alive," Cheyenne Helms said. "So it's very hard for me to grasp it."
The twins said Tuten never missed their birthday, and they all had decided to go to prom together.
"He actually wore the brightest green shoes, and I'm not even kidding," Cheyenne said. "They were just bright shoes. They were beautiful. I loved them."
Even though he's gone, the twins said they'll continue to keep his memory alive.
"He made people feel like they were living and having a fun time," Cheyenne said. "Being happy. That's what me and Andrew should do more: Make people laugh and enjoy life."
Visitation takes place from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at Rainsville Funeral Home.
Tuten will be buried Wednesday in a private graveside service at Green's Chapel Cemetery.
