Update: WAAY 31 journalist Alex Torres-Perez spoke with the couple, Chelsea and Gil, and learned about how Sunday's events came to be!
Turns out, the pair met at a time they were living in separate states, Alabama and Florida. A year later, in 2017, Gil ended up moving to DeKalb County.
Now, three and a half years later, the happy couple is engaged! It happened on Sunday when Gil suggested they go on a bike ride, and they went down to the falls, where he proposed.
Chelsea shared the couple's engagement photos. She says they symbolize their relationship, which she called just "one giant, crazy ride."
Sometimes, a little sunshine can be found in the gloomiest of places.
WAAY 31 journalist Alex Torres-Perez was at Little River Canyon on Sunday to report on the search for a missing kayaker in DeKalb County.
Unfortunately, that kayaker was found dead. You can read more about that here.
While shooting video for her story, Alex came across quite the heartwarming sight.
A quick zoom of her camera revealed a couple who had just seconds before gotten engaged.
If you look closely, you can see the groom-to-be rise from bended knee about 40 seconds into the video.
