USA Today releases 2017-18 ALL-USA Alabama Basketball Teams

Seven locals were honored by USA Today on Tuesday.

USA Today High School Sports announced their 2017-18 ALL-USA Alabama Boys and Girls Basketball Teams on Tuesday. 

In total, seven North Alabama natives earned honors from USA Today High School Sports.

Hazel Green girls basketball coach Tim Miller was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Trojans (35-2) to a Class 6A state title.  He also became the first coach in Alabama state history to win championships at three different schools. 

Following her coach with the honors is Georgia signee Caitlin Hose, who was named to the first team after averaging 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists for Hazel Green this season.  She's joined on the first team by pisgah junior Annie Hughes, an Auburn commit who averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game, helping to lead the Eagles to a class 3A state title.

On the boy's side, Kira Lewis kept the honors coming for the Hazel Green Trojans and marked the only local to make the first team.  The Mr. Basketball finalist averaged 28.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists during his junior season as he helped lead Hazel Green to the Class 6A semifinals.
