UPDATE: The suspect is dead, and his name has not been released at this time. The body of a 42-year-old man who has not been identified was found inside the home after it caught fire. Police say there is little left of the home.

Tuscumbia Police tried to negotiate with the suspect to come out of the home and attempted to remove him during the fire, but he refused. The state Bureau of Investigation is taking over the case, and the Alabama Fire Marshal's Office is working to determine how the fire started.

The Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan will hold a press conference Tuesday to release more information. The standoff lasted several hours.

Tuscumbia Police were serving felony warrants at a home on Riverview Drive to a suspect wanted on drug charges and for questioning in relation to another case. He refused to come out during a standoff and then a fire started.

Police believe the suspect is still in the home, and the fire department is working to get the fire out. WAAY 31 has a reporter at the scene.
