Cleanup of the tanker spill in Decatur is underway.
The spill happened Thursday around 2:30 p.m. at the corner of Indian Hills Road and Upper River Road.
Workers with Cleanharbors out of Chattanooga, TN, were sucking up the diesel and regular gas spilled into a truck.
The team told WAAY 31 this is just the first phase of cleanup.
On Monday they'll start excavating the contaminated soil.
They said this job is relatively small compared to others they've dealt with.
It should take them about a week to get everything back to normal in that area.
