VIDEO: Convicted sex offender arrested for Boaz murder

Boaz police have a suspect in custody after a man was stabbed to death.

UPDATE: Police identify the victim as Coy Austin Tidwell, 33, of Boaz.

The suspect was found at his home in Kilpatrick.

Police say Brandon Richard Davis, 50, gave a full confession to investigators. He’s charged with murder and will be booked in the Marshall County Jail.

Bond was set at $150,000.

Police say the victim and suspect were acquaintances through a female they both knew. Davis is a convicted sex offender. According to police, he was convicted in 1997 for sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl.

The victim’s body is at the Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

Albertville police, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and Alabama State Troopers helped in the case.


Boaz police have a suspect in custody after a man was stabbed to death around 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. 

Police said a man with stab wounds was found inside a home on Woodley Terrace in Boaz. Officers began CPR, but the man was later pronounced dead. 

Investigators were able to take a suspect into custody in DeKalb County. 

Police will release the name of the victim and suspect on Thursday.
