Update: Alabama State Troopers say the student was hit by a 2014 Honda Accord driven by a juvenile. The driver was given traffic citations for reckless driving and passing a school bus.

The Limestone County School System released this information Thursday morning:
At approximately 7:25 a.m. Thursday, a female student at East Limestone High School was hit by a passing vehicle while boarding a school bus. The incident occurred at the intersection of Nick Davis Road and Twin Drive. The student was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“We are certainly grateful that the student is OK,” Limestone County Schools Superintendent Dr. Randy Shearouse said. “We are thankful for our bus drivers who make sure our students are transported safely and want to remind everyone to exercise caution when approaching a school bus.”

According to Rusty Bates, the Limestone County Schools Transportation Director, a student was hit by a vehicle while loading the bus around 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
It happened on Nick Davis Road just east of East Limestone Road. The student has non-life threating injuries and an ambulance is on scene.
Troopers are also on scene investigating.
