Walter Raymond Morrow was captured about 5 p.m. Thursday.

Morgan County Sheriff's Office said Morrow made contact with police by cellphone. That's when police were able to locate him on Telephone Tower Road.

The spokesperson for the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Mike Swafford, told WAAY 31 Morrow traveled around 3 miles in the wooded and rural area of Lacey's Spring. According to deputies, he fell along the way and somewhat injured himself. He became disoriented and forgot where he was.

"So what began as a foot chase ended up as a search and rescue as we negotiated his location from him so we could bring him out of the woods," says Swafford.

The manhunt for Morrow began when the sheriff's office recieved a tip that a suspect they had a warrant for was living in a mobile home on Sage Road in Lacey's Spring. The warrant was out for torture and willful abuse of a child.

When deputies arrived to the mobile home, Morrow saw them driving down his driveway and fled into the woods.

Sheriff's Office set up a perimeter along Dry Creek Cove Road, Sage Road, and Wiljoy Road. All three road are located right near one another.

K-9 units were used to puruse leads they picked up from Morrow's scent and state troopers assisted by scanning the area via helicopter.

According to the sheriff's office, no additional charges will be filed against Morrow because he turned himself in.

From earlier:

Morgan County deputies are searching for a man who is wanted on a warrant for torture/willful abuse of a child under 18.

The deputies are looking for Walter Raymond Morrow on Sage Road in the Lacey's Spring community. The department received a tip that Morrow was staying at a mobile home there, according to Mike Swafford, a sheriff's office spokesman.
