Update: According to Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Burns, the fire started at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, and it took three hours to extinguish it. He says the structure is unsafe to be in, and it is a total loss.

The fire went into the woodlands. Burns says the home was vacant with no power, and there were no injuries. Crews are still working to put out hotspots.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is being contacted to investigate the fire. Right now, fire crews say it is an arson investigation. They say there was another house fire Thursday around the same time right down the road.

Eva, Rock Creek and Florette fire departments responded, along with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

Original story:

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office says volunteer firefighters and deputies responded to a suspicious structure fire in the Oden Ridge community in the 1200 block of Lawrence Cove Road.

The department says the structure appears to be an old and abandoned house. People are urged to use caution in the area.

Morgan County 911 said Thursday morning the fire posed a threat to the woods.
