UPDATE: The sheriff’s office provided an update Tuesday morning saying that Brooks' intestines were severely damaged and had to be removed. The department says he will now need a transplant.
“Thankfully the Cleveland Clinic has accepted him and preparations are being made to stabilize him so he and his family can make the trip to Ohio. Once there, they will be anxiously waiting to complete the transplant process," the sheriff’s office posted to Facebook Tuesday morning.
A GoFundMe was set up for the family. You can find it here.
