Authorities located the bodies in different areas of the house. The are removing them from the scene.

The sheriff's office told us they expect Talucah Road to be shut down throughout the afternoon. It's unclear how long they will be in the home.

Officials are expected to give an update on the case at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

FROM EARLIER:

A homicide investigation is underway this morning after 7 people were found dead after an overnight shooting in Morgan County.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Talucah Road in the Valhermoso Springs community near Lacey's Spring around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Deputies found 7 adults dead inside the home and part of the house was on fire when they arrived. Deputies put the fire out, and started talking to neighbors who called 911 after hearing gunshots. Investigators tell WAAY 31 a dog was found dead also.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit was called to help process the scene. Somerville police also responded. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is part of the FBI Violent Crimes Taskforce which is also assisting. Mike Swafford with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office said they will be at the scene for several hours.

"It is a horrific scene and to be able to process it will take some time,” said Swafford.

Talucah Road will be closed on Friday morning  near Lenox Drive as investigators process the scene. Drivers can use Johnson Landing Road and Chapman Hill Road as a detour.

"We don't have a motive at this time," said Swafford.  "We don't have a determined suspect at this time. Investigators are following leads to piece together exactly what happened and who was involved. We can say we don't believe there is an active threat to anybody in the area."

Swafford said deputies have responded to the home multiple times in the past and he believes they were at the home last week for a previous incident.

"This doesn't happen in Morgan County. We had a triple homicide two weeks ago and I think that's the first anyone can remember in 20 plus years so to have 7 is substantial," said Swafford.
