A man on an ATV led deputies on a chase Thursday morning that lasted almost an hour and had citizens helping out, authorities said.
Officials said the chase started on County Road 13 and ended with the suspect being caught in a field near County Road 10.
Deputies arrested Kyle Jones and charged him with multiple traffic violations and attempting to elude. Deputies said Jones has a long wrap sheet. They believed he was on a stolen ATV and went to pull him over for driving on the roadway, but said he didn't stop.
Jones led deputies on a chase for about 45 minutes, said Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office Investigator James Bullock. Jones drove erratically during the chase, he said.
"It was wanton disregard for any life or property," Bullock said.
During the chase, citizens who saw the chase blocked the road and were pointing deputies in the direction Jones went, Bullock said. Deputies eventually cornered Jones in a field and put him in cuffs.
Jones was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center on $9,000 bond. At the time of the chase, he was out on bond for a criminal mischief charge, authorities said.
