From earlier:

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is looking for an inmate who it says climbed a 16-foot fence topped with razor wire to escape the Jackson County Jail about 4 a.m. Thursday.

Shelby Ryan Paradise, 34, of Scottsboro then ran into a wooded area north of the jail, according to the sheriff's office. Paradise is white, 6'4" tall, 215 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He may be in gray sweatpants or orange jail clothes.

A perimeter was established by members of the sheriff's office, the Scottsboro Police Department and a K-9 Tracking Unit from the Limestone Prison.

The K-9 Unit tracked the escapee to the area of West Willow Street where the track was lost, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff's office said several items of jail clothing were found, and it believes someone picked him up at that location. It is believed he could be in the New Hope area in Madison County, the office said.

Any information as to the whereabouts of Paradise should be reported to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office at 256-574-2610 or your local police department.
