UPDATE: Todd Long says crews have restored power to the majority of customers. He says they discovered an area west of the northwest substation where sections of utility cables between two poles were damaged by a lightning strike.
Long says it appears lightning strikes also damaged three other substations in the area. He says crews are working to repair the damage.

Huntsville Utilities says crews are continuing to work on restoring power.
A spokesperson for the company, Todd Long, says service has been restored to a large portion of the previously reported area, but there are still customers without power in Meridianville, Hazel Green, Providence Main and Perimeter Park.

Huntsville Utilities says there is a power outage affecting the areas of Northern Madison County and Northwest Huntsville from the Tennessee state line south to Hwy 20 and from Wall Triana Hwy east to Hwy 231/431.
