Update: All 5 escapees have been captured and are back inside the Marshall County Jail. Officials tell WAAY 31 8 agencies helped to catch them and that they escaped through the jail's ventilation system.
Five men escaped from the Marshall County Jail between 5:30 and 5:45 Tuesday morning. Deputies said two of those men were later recaptured.
Originally, Sheriff’s Deputies thought it was just four men. However, after a headcount jailers revealed another inmate was also missing.
Brian White was in jail on charges of bond revocation and an ex-felon failure to register. Benjamin Cameron was in jail on charges for failure to appear for receiving stolen property, failure to appear for theft of property and probation violation. Baldemar Davila was in jail for a probation violation, failure to appear for breaking and entering a vehicle and a minor in possession of alcohol.
Guntersville City Schools are on a soft lockdown which authorities search for the inmates. That means everyone stays indoors, all doors will remain locked and there are multiple patrols and school resource officers on campus. This is for all Guntersville City Schools.
The two inmates who were recaptured are Adam Dean and Damon Dempsy. Adam is in jail as a return from work release and Damon is charged with escape in the second degree from work release.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies say once more information is available they’ll release it.
