After two years as the head basketball coach at Hazel Green High School, Danny Anderson resigned to accept a physical education teaching job at Mr. Carmel Elementary School in Madison County.

"I want to thank Coach Anderson for his hard work with our players over the past two season," Hazel Green Principal Darrell Long said in a statement. "I wish Coach Anderson the best. We have had lots of success over the past 10 years in our basketball program and look forward to finding a new leader for our program. Hazel Green High School is a great school that loves basketball so I know we will be able to attract a good candidate."

Whoever does take over as the next head coach inherits a group that made a run to the 6A state semifinals in 2017-18 along with five-star guard Kira Lewis who averaged 28.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.9 steals last season.
