Franklin County escapee captured in wooded area

Troy Dawson is back in custody.

A manhunt in Franklin County is now over with the arrest of escapee, Troy Dawson.

Franklin County Sheriff, Shannon Oliver, said his deputies along with Franklin County Drug Task Force agents and the US Marshals located Dawson in a wooded area of of County Road 77 East of Russellville.

Officials said they recieved numerous tips on Dawson's locations and began searching the woods. When they found Dawson he was armed with a knife and taken into custody with out any incident.

He is now charged with two counts of escape, assault, burglary, and theft.

In July Dawson was in a court ordered program and failed a drug test then ran out of the Franklin County Courthouse where his girlfriend was driving their get away car. A deputy grabbed Dawson and was dragged down the street. The deputy was later released from the hospital for minor injuries.

Dawson is being held in the Franklin County Jail.
