Florence police are investigating an attempted robbery which investigators say was thwarted when another employee pulled a gun on the offender.

Police say they received a call of shots being fired at the Quick Stop convenience store after noon Friday. Officers say the clerk told them a male entered the store and attempted to take money from the cash register. The clerk told police he thought the robber was armed.

The clerk told police another employee brandished a weapon and chased the suspect out the door, firing multiple shots at the person, who was unharmed and got away leaving east on Hermitage Drive.

Police are still investigating the case, and they are asking the public to call (256) 768-2764 or to text a top to 274637 using the key word "FPDTIP" along with the message.
