One city official is hoping residents will don their costumes and trick-or-treat early this year.

The holiday is traditionally observed Oct. 31, which falls on a Sunday this year. In response, Florence Mayor Andy Betterton is encouraging the city’s citizens to observe Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 30, instead.

The City of Florence reminds parents and guardians to provide adequate safety measures to protect children as they partake in holiday festivities.
