Florence man arrested for multiple vehicle burglaries

Tyrone Houston was arrested and charged for multiple car burglaries.

A bystander called police after witnessing a man breaking into cars in the Forest Hills Subdivision.

A 21-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly breaking into multiple cars. The Florence Police Department said they arrested Tyrone Houston after a bystander witnessed him breaking into the cars in the Forest Hills Subdivision. The bystander followed Houston to Alpine Village apartments where police located him and found him in possession of stolen property from the break-ins.

Houston was taken to the Florence Police Department where he was interviewed by detectives. He was then taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center and formally booked on multiple counts of burglary and theft.

Houston is already a convicted felon and was found in possession of a stolen firearm. He is being charged with five counts of burglary to a vehicle, four counts of theft, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Houston is currently being held on a $26,000 bond.

The Florence Police Department is reminding the public to keep their vehicles locked and to not leave valuables inside.
