Family members of the victims from Guntersville's double homicide are grieving the loss of their loved ones.

"I'm going to miss is the Christmases and Thanksgiving that now we can no longer get because someone had to take two innocent lives," said Jennifer Young.

Guntersville police told WAAY 31 they still haven't found the person responsible just yet for the murder of 74-year-old Marie Kitchens Martin. On Friday, she was found dead inside her home along with her great grandson 7-year-old Colton Ryan Lee.

Across the street and possibly unrelated another woman was found dead in her house. Not far away in the same neighborhood on Friday another man was found in a ditch..

Investigators also said family from all of the deaths have been patient with them but they still want answers.

"It's not fair to them and not fair to us as a family," Young said.

It's been a sad and bitter moment for Jennifer Young and her family. She's wondering who would want to kill her grandmother Marie Martin and her cousin Colton Lee.

"My grandma was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. If you needed 20 dollars, she'd give it to you. Whoever done it, she would have given you whatever. They didn't have to do this," Young said.

Guntersville police said Michael Chambers is being held as a person of interest in the double homicide, but he hasn't been charged with anything. They won't speak on the cause of death, but said it was a brutal murder. Young is going to miss Colton's loving, sweet and playful personality.

"He just wanted to spend time with his nana. All of us grand kids and great grand kids did. We loved our Grandma," Young said.

Martin's house is now a crime scene but it was once a place for her family. A place where they knew they'd spend each holiday and family get-together.

"Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, Mother's Day. Everything is... it's not the same anymore," Young said.

Jennifer Young understands there isn't anything that can bring back her grandmother and cousin, but getting justice will help answer questions for her family

"I just hope whoever is out there, whoever done this or whoever seen it, please come forward to Guntersville City. Give them the information that they need," Young said.

Close friends of Marie Martin have been stopping by her home to say their last goodbye to Martin. Many of them tell me she was a sweet person with a huge heart.

WAAY 31 also worked to find out the last time there's been a homicide in Guntersville.

Police officials tell us it was in 2009 when Jessie Philips shot and killed his wife Erica Phillips and their 8-week-old unborn child. He left her body in one of the car wash bays at the lakeside car wash on Alabama 69. The jury found him guilty in 2012 and put him on death row. In 2016 he was sentenced to death for the second time after he was held on an appeal.
