Albertville police release names of victims, shooter in Mueller Water Products mass shooting

Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith has identified Andreas Horton as the man who shot and killed two people and wounded two more at the Mueller Water Products plant in Albertville on Tuesday morning.

Smith identified the two fatal victims as Michael Dobbins and David Lee Horton. He said they both died at the scene.

The two injured employees were identified as Isaac Byrd and Casey Sampson. Both have been taken to a Chattanooga hospital for treatment.

Andreas Horton later was found dead. Smith said he was found with multiple weapons.

“Mueller Water Products is shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific tragedy that occurred early this morning at our Albertville, AL, facility. Our hearts are with the victims and their loved ones, the Albertville community and the entire Mueller family during this extremely difficult time. Our entire focus is on the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, and we are committed to providing any and all support to them and their families. We continue to work closely with law enforcement, with whom we share our deepest gratitude for their support.”

8:30 a.m. UPDATE: Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith said the shooter is dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no danger to the public right now.

The person believed to be the shooter was found just before 6:00 a.m. in the area of Carlisle Street in Guntersville. Guntersville Police are handling that scene.

8:10 a.m. UPDATE: The Albertville Police Department reports the shooter has been located and that the shooting scene at Mueller is secure and being processed.

Police said all other businesses in the area "are safe to conduct business as normal."

Two people are dead and two others are injured after an early morning shooting at the Mueller plant in Albertville on Tuesday.

That is according to Albertville Police Chief Jamie Smith.

Right now, the location of the gunman is unknown.

Smith said the gunman left the scene in a vehicle.

The two injured were transported to Marshall Medical Center South for treatment.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mueller located at 956 Industrial Blvd.
