Marshall County Coroner: Guntersville man died from accidental drowning

A body was recovered on Thursday from Lake Guntersville.

A drowning victim was recovered from Lake Guntersville about 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Marshall County. 

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office confirmed a person went off a pier and their body was recovered about 20 minutes later at Riverbend Estates. 

Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent on Friday identified the victim as Travis E. Heaton, 73, of Guntersville.

Nugent said Heaton lived at Guntersville Marina.

Heaton's cause of death has been ruled as accidential drowning.

The Guntersville Police Department is handling the investigation.
