Decatur Police identify suspect in Tuesday standoff

Decatur Police arrested a suspect following a standoff situation near Danville Road and Dianne Street Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the area shortly after 6 a.m. after reports of a man waving around a gun and firing it recklessly. A spokesperson with the police department told WAAY 31 when police arrived on scene, the man went inside the house.

About 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, Anthony Joseph Messina, 37, surrendered without incident, police said.

He was charged with shooting into an unoccupied building and booked in the Morgan County Correctional Facility.

Bond was set at $30,000.
