Parts of Colbert and Lauderdale counties received significant damage from Tuesday night’s severe weather.
As of Wednesday morning, trees and power lines were still down in some areas.
Businesses in Tuscumbia were hit, with structural damage reported on 5th Street. Awnings are down and brick litters the sidewalk and roadway.
Trees were reported down in Lauderdale County on County Road 323, Virginia Avenue, County Road 8, the area of Greenview Cemetery on Rasch Road, Applby Boulevard, Pine Street and Irvine, Lawrence Street, Atlanta Street, Veterans Drive and Main Street, N Cypress Street, Turtle Cove/Heron Cove, County Road 7, County Road 27 and Riverfront Drive.
One utility pole in Lauderdale County was split in half.
An awning was torn down at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield.
At least one resident says this kind of rough weather is nothing new.
“I've had lightning strikes within a mile of the house over on West Third, and it's like, you don't know what to quite expect then all of a sudden you get a flash and a bang," said Howard Hopwood.
Emergency management officials are set to go out Wednesday morning to survey the damage.
