Coroner IDs Lexington High School student killed in wreck

The 16-year-old crashed his 2001 Ford F-150 on Lauderdale County Road 71 at about 3:10 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The Lauderdale County Coroner identified 16-year-old Isaiah Neal Campbell as the victim of Tuesday's deadly afternoon wreck.

He was a student at Lexington High School.

A fatal wreck took place on County Road 71

He was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:45 p.m., according to the coroner.

The 16-year-old crashed his Ford F-150 into a tree on County Road 71 at about 3:10 p.m., about 3 miles south of Lexington.

Lexington High School Principal Norman Lovelady issued this statement on Wednesday: 

"It has been a sad couple days as our school and community mourn the loss of Isaiah Campbell. Isaiah was an 11th-grade student and a member of our tennis team. He will be missed by his classmates, faculty, and community. Lexington School would like to thank our community, surrounding communities, and other schools across our county for the outpouring of support they have shown our school during this tough time.

"We would also like to thank ministers from our community, counselors and social workers from our school system, The Healing Place, and Riverbend for their support of our students and our faculty. Our thoughts and prayers are with Isaiah's family, and we want them to know how much we love them. Please keep our school and community in your prayers as we heal from this tragic loss."
