Child, teen killed in Arab flooding

A 4-year-old child and an 18-year-old female died in Marshall County because of flooding, the coroner confirmed.

According to the Marshall County Coroner's Office, two people have died as a result of flooding.

A 4-year-old female died at Haynes and Hickory Hill roads in Arab. She was found about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday.

An 18-year-old female was found on Friendship Road in the Union Grove area about 7 a.m. Thursday.

Names of the victims have not been released.

A child in Marshall County has died because of flash flooding, the coroner confirms.

"I can confirm that our office has responded to the fatality of one child as the result of the flooding," Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent said.

Arab Police Chief Shane Washburn said the child died on Haynes Road off Highway 231 in Arab.

Marshall County District 1 Commissioner Ronny Shumate also confirmed that other people in the vehicle with the child were able to be rescued.

According to the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, everyone should use caution Thursday morning while driving because many roads are closed or washed out to due flooding.
