The city of Arab is under a boil water advisory after heavy rain Wednesday night. Arab Water Works is advising its customers to boil any water for drinking or food preparation.

Joppa, Hulaco and Ryan Water Authority also urges its customers to boil water or drink bottled water.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, if your local health officials issue a boil water advisory, you should use bottled water if possible or boil tap water by bringing it to a full rolling boil for 1 minute. Right now, there is no expiration time set for the advisory.

According to Arab Mayor Bob Joslin, Arab Water Works had numerous water lines wash away so most of the city is without water. He said he is in contact with Senator Scofiled who will contact Governor Ivey about the need to declare an emergency in Marshall County in order to make repairs.
