A state audit found questionable spending by the former Jackson County Commission chairman.

A special audit performed from August through December last year examined credit card expenses.

Two instances of non-compliance were found. They involved a failure to provide proper documentation of credit cards over travel and mileage.

Former chairman Tim Guffey did not show up for a meeting to justify his use of the county's credit card. He has since repaid the county more than $3,900.
