Update: In a news release Friday evening, troopers said the incident happened at approximately 4 p.m. when a trooper stopped a 1999 Dodge Dakota with no license plate at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Huntsville Browns Ferry Road.
They say the Dodge was driven by Jerry Lee Lewis, 38, of Tanner, who ran from the vehicle to avoid arrest, and the trooper chased him on foot.
Lewis was arrested for resisting arrest, second-degree assault and attempting to elude.
The trooper was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Troopers say Lewis had an active felony warrant for a probation violation with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
An Alabama State Trooper received minor injuries when a suspect resisted arrest and there was a ‘tussle,’ according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The incident took place in the area of Highway 31 in Tanner.
Multiple members of law enforcement have responded to the scene.
