Work release inmate recaptured, faces escape charge

Authorities are looking for a man who escaped from work release just outside Mobile Tuesday night.

William Shawn Foster, 40, escaped from the Loxley Community Work Center around 10 p.m. Monday, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Conecuh County sheriff's deputies saw Foster in a stolen vehicle at 3:20 a.m. on I-65 north near Evergreen. He was arrested after a brief chase, authorities said..

Foster was sentenced in June 2016 to 20 years in prison for manufacturing a controlled substance in Madison County, according to corrections officials.

He now faces an escape charge.
