Update: The Alabama Security Regulatory Board says the owner is Shuai Ji of Acworth, Georgia.
The board says the establishment license for Asian Massage is now inactive and action towards it is underway.
Two Athens women are in custody after an undercover operation at Asian Massage.
The Limestone County Sheriff's Office says 61-year-old Yu Guiying and 54-year-old Qingying Zhang were operating an illegitimate massage establishment. They are both from China and are charged with promoting prostitution. Bond is set at $2,500 for each.
"Shock at first. Just surprised," said Debbie Kulmer, the owner of a nearby business, Balance Personal Training.
The arrests come after several citizens gave information to the Limestone County Sheriff's Office claiming the business was not a legitimate massage establishment.
Investigators conducted an undercover operation and obtained a search warrant for the business. They seized equipment, furniture and about $10,400 in cash.
The investigation remains open, and additional charges are possible.
According to the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy, the licence for Asian Massage is active as of Wednesday night and is scheduled to expire in December 2020.
