Guns are officially banned from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Arena in Dallas on the day Vice President Mike Pence is set to address the annual convention of the National Rifle Association, ABC News reported.

The NRA told members - even those licensed to carry - they cannot bring weapons to Friday's forum, and that includes knives. Laser pointers and selfie sticks are also prohibited. Also, storage lockers will not be available for anyone hoping to leave their weapon outside the forum.

The move is standard protocol by the Secret Service when either the President or Vice President is speaking. So far there has been little to no pushback from members.

In addition to Vice President Pence, a number of prominent Texas politicians will address the crowd including Senator John Cornyn, Representative Ted Cruz, and Governor Greg Abbott.
