Morgan County infectious disease task force focused on safety when businesses reopen

Officials in the city of Decatur and Morgan County held a news conference Wednesday morning about the area’s efforts to combat coronavirus.

UPDATE: Morgan County Emergency Management Agency Director Eddie Hicks said an infectious disease task force is meeting in the county about how to follow state and CDC guidelines. He said it’s looking towards how to keep people safe when businesses reopen.

Hicks also said volunteers are sewing masks for the community. If you’re interested in helping, call the volunteer center at 256-355-8628.

Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling reminded about free coronavirus testing at the Morgan County Health Department. Read more on that here.

Bowling also urged people to check on their neighbors.

Decatur Renasant Bank Market President Tim Lovelace said most of the bank’s time has been focused on stimulus checks and Payroll Protection Loans.
