Florence Mayor Andy Betterton has tested positive for coronavirus, a city spokesperson announced Monday.

"He is receiving excellent care from his primary health care provider and is experiencing mild symptoms at this time," according to the news release.

Betterton has informed people who were in close contact with him prior to his diagnosis, the city said.

In the interim, Council President Dick Jordan will represent the city of Florence in press conferences and municipal updates.
