A new fund was established to help nonprofits supervise students in Madison City, Huntsville City and Madison County schools as they take virtual classes.
You can donate to the fund established to support those local nonprofits who are providing supervised learning for students.
The Huntsville-Madison County Chamber estimates there are 1,000 kids needing supervision while learning remotely for the first nine weeks of classes. At $200 per week, that's $1.8 million worth of childcare funding needed, but $50,000 is already in the fund after a donation from Toyota Alabama, Raytheon Technologies and the Junior League of Huntsville.
The deadline to donate for the first round of grants is Sept. 25. Grant applications for local nonprofits will be open soon.
