News Anchor

WAAY 31, in Huntsville, AL, is looking for a dynamic Anchor with a passion for journalism, holding the powerful accountable and telling stories that make a difference in our community.  This is an excellent opportunity for a journalist ready for the next step in their career.  This is a position of leadership in the newsroom and requires the ability to coach and be coached.

 

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering breaking news in an urgent manner, breaking big stories, cultivating sources and a newsroom leader.  If you just want to read scripts or repeat what police tell you, this is not the job for you.  You will deliver news from behind the desk and find/report it from the field.  This position also provides the freedom to do work that matters in our community.  But bring your boots because this is hard and important work.

Meteorologist

WAAY 31 is looking for a Meteorologist with a passion for severe weather.  Our daily goal is simple:  Win weather.  We need meteorologists who understand the weather story, how it impacts our viewers and can help keep them safe.

The ideal candidate has experience in severe weather markets and also understands the importance of inconvenient weather.  He/she must also be a certified meteorologist, preferably with at least an AMS seal.

Digital Content Producer

WAAY 31 is looking for a Digital Content Manager.  The ideal candidate is a news junky who realizes the future is online.

We want someone who can go beyond “digital first.”  This person will help cultivate exclusive online content, understand social media algorithms and find what’s going to trend instead of what’s already trending.

Our digital content manager needs to work closely with news managers to ensure the online product matches the station’s objectives.  This person will also supervise and manage the online presence of news employees.
