Huntsville, AL - Two months after Mark Sibbald left the Huntsville Havoc, the two sides have made up.
Sibbald was placed on team suspension in December after a stormy season. Coach Randy Murphy said at the time that Sibbald was let go due to an "internal matter" and refused to comment further. Locker room insiders say there was friction between Sibbald and several teammates all season. But, that is all water under the bridge now, apparently.
“We are extremely excited to have Mark back,” Murphy said Monday. “We are hoping he will pick up right where he left off and we expect he and (Kevin) Beech to bring some stability to our play in net.”
“I am glad to be heading back to Huntsville where I am very comfortable playing,” Sibbald said. “It has been a great two and half years playing there. The fans are fantastic and I just want to come in and contribute any way that I can.”
Goaltender Matt Hache has been placed on waivers.
Before his departure, Sibbald was having an inconsistent year, going 4-4-2. However, his 2.67 GAA showed he'd been performing better than his record indicated.
