Havoc Roughed Up on Road Trip

HUNTSVILLE, AL – The Huntsville Havoc wrapped up last week with 3-0 shutout of Pensacola, but the Havoc failed to carry the momentum into this past week and dropped all three games on the road. The Havoc managed just four goals in three games.


Tuesday, February 14 – Huntsville 1, Mississippi RiverKings 5
SOUTHAVEN, MS - For the second time in four days the Huntsville Havoc found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard with the Mississippi RiverKings, this time with a 5-1 loss on the road Tuesday night.

The RiverKings got first period goals from Mark Magnowski and Darrell Stoddard to jump out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Deven Stillar scored a powerplay goal early in the second period and Mississippi had a 3-0 lead. Ray Ortiz would cut the lead to 3-1 with 9:07 remianing.

Ken Selby and Mike Tuomi added third period goals to seal the win.

Kevin Beech made 26 saves in the loss while Scott Darling made 31 in the win.


Friday, February 17 – Huntsville 1, Fayetteville 2
FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Huntsville Havoc had a chance to distance themselves from last place Fayetteville on Friday night, instead the dropped a 2-1 decision on the road.

All the scoring came in the second period as the FireAntz jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Matt Smyth and Chris Leveille. Justin Fox scored on the powerplay for the Havoc with 5:24 left to cut the lead to 2-1.

Mark Sibbald was strong in net for the Havoc in the stopping 37 of 39 shots that he faced. Mike Brown made 26 saves in the win.

The two teams both had 13 shots in the first period but Fayetteville outshot the Havoc 26-14 in the final two periods.


Saturday, February 18 – Huntsville 2, Knoxville 4
KNOXVILLE, TN - The Huntsville Havoc dropped their third straight road game with a 4-2 setback to the Knoxville Ice Bears on Saturday night.

Kyle Crawford put the Havoc up early with a powerplay goal at the 8:55 mark of the first period. Mike Towns tied the game at 1-1 with 1:19 remaining in the first.

For the second straight night, the second period belonged to the opponent as Knoxville got second period goals for Eric Slais and Kevin Swider. Knoxville would take that 3-1 lead in the the final period of play.

Berkley Scott would extend that lead to 4-1 with 8:15 left in the game. Justin Fox cut the lead to 4-2 with 6:00 to go but the Havoc couldn't get any closer.

Mark Sibbald made 38 saves in the loss while Kyle Rank made 31 in the win.
