HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAAY) - A Huntsville woman is in the Madison County jail on assault charges after police said she stabbed a friend who was letting her live with her.

Huntsville police have charged 22 year-old Crystal Hays with 2nd degree assault.

Investigators said Hays stabbed her friend Kristian Jones after an argument over money.

Police said it happened at Hays' apartment on Chateau Drive around 4:30pm, but Hays was gone when officers arrived.

She was found a short time later and arrested.

Police said Jones' injuries were not serious.
