GARDENDALE, Ala. (WAAY) - Authorities say the wife of a pastor with north Alabama ties is dead and two more people are hospitalized after a shooting and stabbing incident at her family's home near Birmingham.

The coroner's office says 52-year-old Lisa Greer died early Friday. She was the wife of Rev. Terry Greer, senior pastor at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.

Police aren't releasing any names, but they say a man is suspected of shooting two women before stabbing himself inside the Greer home on Thursday.

Police say the man and another woman remain hospitalized.

Terry Greer was pastor at Decatur United Methodist Church for eight years before moving to the Mt. Vernon church in June. His wife was a Scottsboro native and was a former teacher and reading coach at Chestnut Grove Elementary School. Their daughter, Suzanna, graduated from Decatur High School in 2012.

The Associated Press and The Decatur Daily contributed to this report.
