DECATUR, Ala. (WAAY) - Decatur Police have released the autopsy results of a young mother found dead in her 15th Ave. home Monday.
According to the report, The Department of Forensic Sciences has ruled the death of 31-year-old Ana Chavez as asphyxiation by suffocation.
Investigators say they are still searching for a person of interest seen leaving the Chavez home late Monday morning.
DPD is looking for an unidentified dark-skinned, Hispanic male, mid-late 20s, 5’5”-5’9”, with a visible “script style” tattoo on the side of his neck. This unknown subject was last seen driving a black in color, late model Honda Civic, trimmed in red pin striping, with two identical yellow stickers on the rear bumpers. The vehicle was also seen leaving the area yesterday morning with a flat rear passenger side tire. They said they also have reason to believe the vehicle may have had a loud “import or performance” style muffler.
Anyone with information is asked to immediately call the Decatur Police Department at 256-341-4660.
