Lenten Rose
Lenten Rose
It's Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. And what better time to talk about the Lenten Rose?

As you can assume, the Lenten Rose got its name by blooming during the period of Lent, usually late February and March. The gorgeous woodland evergreen plants have white, rose and pink colored knotting flowers for about 6-8 weeks out of the year. It's also an easy plant to grow, and one that repels deer.

Harvey's Tips for the Week :

- Now is the time to sow Snap Peas, English Peas or Sweet Peas in the garden
- Watch for Camellias opening during warm spells – cut blossoms and bring inside if frost threatens
- Fertilize pansy plantings with a diluted liquid feed fertilizer (Fish Emulsion is great)
