Lawrenceburg, TN - A Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputy is recovering after being hurt in a crash while pursuing a robbery suspect.

According to the Sheriff, Lawrenceburg Police tried to stop 30 year old Jeremy Don Johnson of Clarksville in connection with an armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy on Sunday. The suspect fled and was chased by Lawrenceburg Police, who were soon joined by Lawrence County deputies.

The car was going north on Highway 43 in Ethridge when it collided with a patrol car being driven by Deputy Dennis Cody near the Main Street intersection. The deputy had set his car up in the road as a pick to stop Johnson from hitting oncoming traffic when he was hit.

Johnson's car flipped and went into the ditch on the side of the road. He was pulled from the wreckage and taken to Crockett Hospital for treatment. Deputy Cody was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Both are expected to recover.

Johnson was on parole for previous robberies at the time of the incident.
