Huntsville, AL - Huntsville’s mayor is helping to raise awareness of a condition impacting nearly half a million families. Thursday, Tommy Battle signed a declaration, making August Asperger’s awareness month. Asperger’s syndrome is a developmental disability that falls in the same spectrum as Autism.

Asperger Advocate, Angela Collier says, “These individuals are very bright individuals, capable and able, to work and to do. And, we want to promote their gifts and their talents.”

Aaron Tanner adds, “I think more awareness needs to be spread about Asperger syndrome, especially among adults, because that group of people doesn't usually get the kind of attention they deserve.”

This is the third year that Mayor Battle has signed this declaration.
